A temperate rain forest area almost squashed by the immense Franz Josef Galcier inland and the wild Southern Ocean creating some of the wildest scenery in New Zealand. Although still almost completely unspoilt Franz Josef draws visitors from all over the world for this unspoilt beauty.

Rainforest Backpackers, is situated on Cron Street, only minutes walk from the Franz Josef Glacier Village. There you will find the townships' grocery store, souvenir shops, service station, coach stops, cafes and restaurants as well as tour and sightseeing services.
